Membership

What does it mean to be a Member?

Part of being a Christian means being a part of a church family. That’s why every believer who calls Baleville Church their home church is encouraged to become a member.  As a member, you commit to protecting the unity of the church (Philippians 2:1-4, Ephesians 4:1-3), sharing in the responsibility of the church (2 Thessalonians 1:11, Colossians 1:9-10), serving in the ministry of the church (1 Peter 4:10, Ephesians 4:11-12) and supporting the testimony of the church (Hebrews 10:25; Philippians 1:27, 2 Corinthians 9:6-7).

When we make a commitment to a local church, we commit to support the work of that church.  That commitment involves being part of weekly worship services and using your gifts and abilities to support the body of Christ.

Why should I become a Member?

In Paul’s letter to the Ephesians, he says “from him (Christ) the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.” Ephesians 4:16

Membership supports the work of the church as it:

*Is an expression of belonging to the body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:12-31)

*Enables you to live out God’s commands of how to live with fellow believers (1 Peter 1:22)

*Puts you in a position to be able to submit to God-given church leaders (Hebrews 13:17)

*Provides you with more opportunities to serve in the church (1 Peter 4:10)

“Why have a formal membership process? Can’t I just consider myself a part of this church and attend regularly?”

      Step 1

The most important step is to have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, and are actively growing in your faith. We also strongly encourage you to be baptized.  Click here for information on baptism.

      Step 2

The second one is to attend one of our ‘DISCOVER Baleville’ events. This is an informal time where you get to know us and we get to know you.  You’ll meet Pastor Brian, get to know the church, and have a chance to ask questions. It is scheduled once in the fall and once in the spring.

      Step 3

The next step is to attend two membership classes which will cover our statement of faith, information on congregational church life, membership vows, and using your gifts in the church.

      Step 4

We will have a few church leaders meet with you, and you will be welcomed into membership by the congregation!
